My initial degree was in human sciences (a combination of medical sciences and psychology) from University College London. I then converted this to a degree in psychology with the Open University post-graduate diploma, a BPS (British Psychological Society) accredited course. These academic qualification gave me a firm foundation in psychology, but I still yearned for practical tools that would help clients in tangible, effective and long-lasting ways.
With this in mind I gained my diploma in hypnotherapy from the London College of Clinical Hypnosis (LCCH) and I am an associate member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH), thereby adhering to their strict rules and code of conduct. I am also a fully accredited Advanced EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) Practitioner and also a Reiki II practitioner, trained by Tripuri Dunne of the Reiki Alliance (Reiki lineage: Mikao Usui, Churjiro Hayashi, Hawayo Takata, Wanja Twan, Krishni Borang, Tripuri Dunne).
I have previously worked in coordination and management roles within psychology, education and medical settings. I wrote a book, Still Me for children who have experienced illness or injury, incorporating hypnotherapeutic elements to reassure and aid healing, available on Amazon.
Working as a therapist since 2010, I have honed and adapted how I work with clients to incorporate the teachings and perspectives of many therapists and coaches, so that I continually add to and improve on the base of my original training. Experience has taught me what tools help clients the most and though each has individual needs, I have found that there are a set of criteria that everyone requires– to be seen, to be heard, to have a safe way to process, feel and heal past traumas with someone unconditionally present by their side. This is often with the help of both hypnotherapy and EFT, but sometimes just one or the other.
The next step is to begin to create new neural pathways for how we choose to experience life moving forward and this can be done with the help of hypnotherapy to ensure new, healthy programmes are deeply embedded and able to empower us in our day-to-day life.
Having worked, and continuing to work on my own childhood traumas, attachment wounds and subsequent co-dependency, I now specialise in helping clients free themselves from the challenges originally set by their childhoods, to lead empowered lives where their voices are heard and their gifts free to shine out into the world. This only happens once we are unshackled from the wounds and traumas of our past. It’s work for the brave, but it is always well worth it. It’s my honour to walk alongside you as you take that journey.
